I have Anakee's on mine Darryl and they are fine for the road and on metal.  I got a used TKC for the front just to  give it a try and found it better on metal and dirt tracks but for most of my riding I'm happy with the Anakee's.

A happy ending to an unfortunate accident Robin.  We often complain about “other” accidents eg quad and farm bikes being lumped in with our machines when compiling stats so in these two cases at least they won't be calculated in when putting our levies up again will they  🙂

Work finished, throws a leg over the seat to pull it back, fracture finally goes out of alignment, he falls down, bike falls alongside him, he yells for help till a passer-by hears him and calls the ambos.

I should think it would be hard to prove it wasn't motorcycle related since there were no witnesses and the passer by found him under his bike?

Sounds like an excellent idea Scott, possibly run through our Gear dept so as to coordinate nationally.  My mail to the exec hasn't ever been answered but you might have better luck.

Hi Dave and Barbara, just picked up on your misfortune and after hearing about poor old George Smiths off recently I find those little doubts about our chosen pastime niggling in my head. We lost a very good friend in a head on many years ago and it took me a long time to relax on the bike.  However we all know that there is not a better feeling than to be riding and it's very addictive.Jean and I hope you both fully recover and look forward to catching up over a beer at the Puhoi one of these days.

Sorry Bruce, I tried opening that link too and found the same thing.  I've just been sent it again but when I copy and paste it the end of the link is grayed out.

I know you've deserted Bruce, it was a V strom same colour, (aren't they all) and we were heading towards each other so horses weren't an issue but it was a fleeting glance otherwise I'd have waved too.

A happy outcome and good to see the forum being put to good use.

Hi John, suggest you call NZTA on 0800108809 and have a chat with them.  I have just done that and it seems your info is correct and you will have to go to Whangarei to get a compliance cert then a WOF, then apply to have the bike re registered when new plates will be issued.  Costly mistake mate  🙁 especially with two bikes.  I asked about the “brake” declaration and think this might be “break” as in broken registration period but if you call they will confirm for you.  Good luck.

I'm sure there are the good and not so good aspects to most of them.  For what it's worth here's a good one.  I've been with John Baker ever since he started his scheme and can only say good things about them.  They are well priced and have sorted my two (bike) claims quickly and efficiently.  One claim on Jean's yellow car cost me my excess $200 because the guy that ran in to us in Kaitaia changed his story, didn't acutally own the car (his daughters) and the car wasn't insured, registered or have a WOF.  I have to say they went to great lengths to get some money out of him but after 6 months gave up.  John Baker is also very obliging in so far as he will insure multiple bikes on one policy with big savings.  If I want to lend my son a bike I give them a call the day prior and they'll give him temporary cover.  When buying and selling all that is required is a phone call, they are totally obliging.  Rider: I don't work for them  😉  Good luck whoever you go with.

It would be appropriate, perhaps, to have such a facility as part of http://bmwor.org.nz, but not, I venture on http://bmwor.org.nz/forum

    I agree Bruce, very important.

So the appropriate place (if at all) would be a secure part of the main website, so we are not displaying the minutiae of our bizzo to the world: is setting this up going to be another task for our Suzuki rider to do in his spare time? (He doesn't think so!)

🙁 I assume it would be a job for the Web master so that would be a shame.  Let's see how it goes.

My vote would (at present) be to leave things as they are, see how much information flows to us via the Newsletter, as it has in the past, if you lived anywhere but Auckland, or latterly Wellington and thereabouts, and see how we are getting on in a year's time.

I regularly see comment in the newsletter suggesting we stop living in the past and move on, is this not a good opportunity to make a change which will benefit the members by keeping them up to date with the workings of the executive.
