When I bought my R1100RT it had clocked 43K it is now passing through 110K in three years of riding, it's regularly maintained and most often riden 50 to 60 kms at a time. The only out of the service issue I have experienced is the fork seals.  Having owned a few Jap bikes in my early days of riding, I really appreciate the “push the button and go” aspect of the Beema.  It is surprising how often my clean bike gets taken for a much newer model than it is.  Added to that warrents are a breeze.  I was told by someone before I bought mine, the diff would pack up early on, I have heard losts of other drastic things too, but it's often one occurance of something gets spoken of as fact in all cases.  An issue of the UK RIDE magazine (Feb 2010) had a thorough go at RT reliability and their verdict was there is not much that can beat them.Cheers
