    Stayed at the retro Karamea Motel, good karma and friendly locals.  Just behind the motel is the estuary, providing a sunset of spiritual magnitude.  Check out Denniston and Drifters Cafe in Granity, this area is one of the best kept secrets in the South Island.  The Oparara Basin provides opportunities for tramping, kayaking, rafting, or just relaxing.
