All three of Paul Carter's books are available from the Supercity's Library system, if you hold a borrowers card from any of the old libraries.  If you laugh at “Is That Thing Diesel” the others are just as funny.  “Don't Tell Mum I'm on the Rigs, She Thinks I'm a Piano Player in a Whorehouse” and “This is Not a Drill, Just another Glorious Day in the Oilfield”.  Not about bikes, but will make bikers laugh.

I got a copy from Techbooks in Newmarket, it has quite an “American market” slant on it but quite a good read if you know the broader history of BMW.

Time to revive this thread, perhaps.

The Complete Book of BMW Motorcycles by Ian Falloon

There's a review of this recently published book on UltimateMotorcycling.https://ultimatemotorcycling.com/2016/05/26/the-complete-book-of-bmw-motorcycles-review-ian-falloon/ISBN, pricing, and publisher information is also in that review. It's published in the USA, in large format and printed on high-quality heavy stock. Fishpond have it available from a NZ supplier for $71.76 including delivery (I've just ordered a copy).http://www.fishpond.co.nz/Books/Complete-Book-of-BMW-Motorcycles-Ian-Falloon/9780760347270
