I’ve downloaded Google Earth, a satellite image programme. You need broadband, but it’s a neat gimmick. You can zoom in on any place on the planet. In selected areas you can make out cars, downtown Auckland and parts of the Northshore. Type in an address and it will take you there.
What's it good for? Well, you can get a good idea of what type of terrain you might be riding in. It beats any topographical map, unless of course you can read maps well :-). Oh, the images are up to three years old, so it's no good if you want to know if Mrs Bell has her washing out.
