in reply to: AKL Register Ride to Tutukaka Nov18 #8549
I'll need a volunteer to lead this ride as I will be in Wellington due to work commitments. Please let me know if you are interested.
in reply to: Ride to Kawhia #8635I am sure you guys have brilliant weather, once you see past the fog.Too bad this bach is not for sale, or I could be tempted.
in reply to: GS 650 20k Service – How much? #8636I think you won't get much change out of $600. I did it myself on Gerda's bike, including the steering head bearings and a fork oil change. It's actually not all that hard if you prepare well. I ended up taking the shims out, needlessly as it turned out. I had used the single spark specs on a twin spark bike. You'll find the valves will be fine. Bleeding the coolant was a bit fiddly. The oil has to be drained in two places. The sump plug is a pain in the butt. Other than that there is nothing to it. Servicing is a good way to get to know your bike.Alex
in reply to: Cheese Cutter Barrier Protest Ride #8604I've just read the reasons for the protest. The demands are pretty sensible and doable. Who exactly makes these kind of decisions? LTNZ?
in reply to: Locked petrol cap – R80 #8607Hmmm, sorry I can't help you with this one. Thanks for the warning, though. I'll have to keep an eye on my one. I do keep it unlocked all the time, but not being able to open it when needed would be a real bummer.Keep us informed how you get on. I am pretty confident one of the more experienced airheads will chime in with a solution.
in reply to: Cheese Cutter Barrier Protest Ride #8597These barriers look a lot safer, and would be a good use for recycled plastic.
in reply to: Trickle Charger, which one? #7776I've got my airehead on a trickle charge hooked up the accessory plug as I type. In my case it's probably a waste of time, as I suspect that the battery is faulty. I thought the problem was with the new bikes. I am sure Garry will know if this is a problem for your bike as well.
in reply to: A Fast BMW #8586Isn't that Dave on the bike?
in reply to: A Far, Far North Ride Report. #8579Hi Ingel, good to see that you and Lesley are having a good time over there. Not even the Puhoi Pub can compete with so much history :-). I am amazed that their BMW club doesn't attract more members. Surely 400 isn't the membership for the whole region? What's the traffic like on those roads? Narrow roads with lots of traffic worry me.Keep up the reports from up-over, we are enjoying them.Cheers,Alex
in reply to: 650 Round Trip #8585Thanks for the report Tharon. Snow, brrrrrrr not on a bike, thank you. Gerda and I are looking forward to the Annual Rally, will you be there?I didn't know you could get the Adventure in small as well, must show it to Gerda, I am sure she'd like one. 😀
in reply to: whoops new guy wrong photo #8568Welcome to the forum Leigh. Keep in mind that this year's Annual Rally is in Alexandra and you may wish to attend. It's a great time to meet other motorcycle enthusiasts.Cheers,Alex
in reply to: hello from whangapoua #8559Hi Steve, welcome to the forum. You live in a beautiful area, and I am sure a number of us will drop in on you. As a matter of fact there is a Register ride to Matarangi on Sunday, so you might have some visitors sooner rather than later 🙂Cheers,Alex
in reply to: AKL Lunch ride to Raglan October 7 #8481no need to publicly call me a hoon 😮 👿 c u guys in Raglan cheers
You clearly are a hoon :-). We should sort a gravel ride together.
in reply to: AKL Lunch ride to Raglan October 7 #8479We're feeling quite lazy this morning. We could do the trip in reverse, Raglan to Port Waikato, or as long as we're keen. Just keep in mind that Gerda is not yet very fast on the loose stuff and you might be happier riding at your own pace. We'll be leaving form home at about 10am.
in reply to: AKL Lunch ride to Raglan October 7 #8477Gerda and I may do it again, we've only been through there last week, but it's a neat ride.
