Re "I wouldn't be seen dead in a flouro jacket"Once your dead who cares!!?? 👿 😉
I suspect he put it there because of the double meaning. I you were wearing one, you wouldn't be seen dead...I got rear-ended by a car the first time I wore mine on a commute.
in reply to: GS Adventures #9050Great idea.
in reply to: Rides – or rather the lack thereof. #9032Thanks for the responses guys, I take it that if one turns up at the normal meeting place for a lunch ride there will be others to ride with then. Enjoy the long weekend. Barry.
No there may not be.
He is correct. You better post your intentions here first.
in reply to: R1150GS Fuel lines #9016Excellent, I am pleased you've found the problem. Fuel, compression and spark, as they say.
in reply to: Molesworth/Rainbow Ride 29.12.07 #9040I had a funny one today on the way to Raglan via Port Waikato. All of a sudden I heard a weird noise. Looking down I saw this no.8 wire wrapped around the front of the bike. I was in 5th gear at the time. This it I thought, the front wheel is going to lock up and I am going down. Luckily this did not happen and I managed to stop. I looked down and saw that the wire had gone over the front fender, then I turned around and saw that I had been dragging a coil of wire stretching out to more than 10m behind me. I hadn't even seen the wire, as it was all brown and rusty and didn't stand out on a gravel road. That put a damper on things for the next few K,s.
in reply to: Rides – or rather the lack thereof. #9027Hi Barry,I think Dave has answered your query quite well. The big gap over the holidays is the usual summer break and to allow people to attend the Annual Rally. The point of lunch rides is to give people the option of a more flexible departure time. Some leave early and do a big ride before turning up at the venue, while others, including myself, often sleep in and just ride straight to the venue. You will find that even for lunch rides people meet at the usual departure points around 9.30am. You can use this forum to mention that you are interested in joining a group for a lunch ride. Everybody is welcome. The clash with the street races was unintentional. I will turn up at the meeting point and if nobody wants to ride to Kawhia I will go to the races as well.Thank you for your feedback, it is much appreciated.Cheers,Alex
Gerda had been busy reading it. It's good info.
in reply to: Melting Roads #9003I think you've got a point there, Les. I've just talked to a German guy who took part in an organized tour. He told me an RT crashed on the slippery seal in the wet. The pillion is in hospital with an injured hand.We are know to expect the worst here, but often riders from overseas are not used to the treacherous conditions. There are so many types of seals being used completely randomly. The make repairs with whatever they have available at the time. They rarely clean up properly. Quality control is non-existent it seems. If we complain they'll say that motorcycles are just too dangerous.I wonder where the buck stops on this one. Maybe we should start a campaign with stupid slogans "Melting tar kills" or "The softer the tar, the bigger the mess". The government thinks they are working.
in reply to: 2008 Rally – a bit of an adventure #8946We have a number of threads on the same topic all over the place. It's a bit messy, but it shows that the event was exciting and offered a range of opportunities. I wonder if we should remove the rally and event section altogether and just keep everything under ride reports. Feedback would be appreciated.I'll leave everything for now, but may tidy it up later (If I can) once the excitement has cooled off. Having reports like these are a real boost for the forum and the register. It shows that we are a diverse group of active people and that it is worthwhile to join the register.
in reply to: 2008 Rally – a bit of an adventure #8944Here are some of our photos from the old man crossing. For us it was quite an adventure, I was pretty exhausted by the end. Some of our photos are below. If anyone has the shot of my bike in the puddle, I'd love to have a copy of it.
in reply to: R1150GS Fuel lines #9011You could remove an injector to see if it sprays. However, it means you will be spraying a fine mist of petrol around and that's can cause all sorts of safety issues.
in reply to: R1150GS Fuel lines #9009Here is a picture I found on the net
The only other thing I can think of is that you may have pinched the line somewhere, or you have some trapped air in there. Oh, is your fuel pump running?
in reply to: R1150GS Fuel lines #9007Do you have the quick disconnect lines fitted? If so, you may not have pushed them all the way in. They can be a pita to connect. Have you checked your battery fluid recently? It tends to evaporate in the hot weather. The lines tend to stay in their natural order, so I don't think you've mixed them up.Don't take this the wrong way, but have you checked your kill switch?
