It's a BMWOR AGM, people will be wearing goretex bikinis.
in reply to: Tyre pressures #10026Cool, I won't tell you what I thought it stood for then 😀
in reply to: R80GS high fuel consumption #9716Welcome to the forum and thanks for the input, Richard. My bike has done 108000km most of those as a rental bike. I figure that the carbs haven't been touched before. I have ordered a complete rebuild set from Bing. As I intend to keep the bike, and keep it in excellent mechanical condition, I will make sure that these sort of jobs are done. At todays fuel prices, I'll probably save as much as that cost, in a few thousand k's. I am still waiting on the second throttle cable, so I can get the bike on the road again.
in reply to: Tyre pressures #10022Most tyres are black and round. The BMW ones are round and black. I suppose they may have a stiffer sidewall because of the porky weight.
Are you saying BMW riders are HAM riders? 👿
I was referring to the bikes, but if the shoe fits 👿
in reply to: June 15 AKL Register ride to Coromandel Township #9882I've tried to text you today, ferg. I thought I had entered your number in my cellphone, but in Thames it was nowhere to be found. I am not good with cellphones. It got pretty wet towards Coromandel, so you may not have wanted to come anyway. By the time we got home again we were pretty much dry again.

in reply to: Tyre pressures #10010I couldn't find this topic by searching, so apologies if it's been asked before. What tyre pressures do you recommend for an R1150GS on the road? Ta.
That would be an unusual question for someone looking to buy a bike. Air is pretty cheap :-).I usually go for 33/36, but you can go quite a bit higher. 36/41seems to make the tyres last for longer, but the lower pressure feels more reassuring.
in reply to: Wiring my existing spotlights #10004The really cool thing seems to be that we can legally carry poles longer than 7 meters, and stuff up to 4.25 meters tall. Overall length seems to be restricted to 12.6 meters without a tow coupling. I think I can work within those constraints, just like most of India.
in reply to: June 15 AKL Register ride to Coromandel Township #9881Hi ferg, the weather forecast for Sunday is not very encouraging. I will text you if I end up going. I will definitely ride to the meeting place, but if it looks like steady rain, I won't be riding around Coromandel. The fuel prices have gone just to high to ride around in the rain.Alex

in reply to: Yet another one #9984Welcome to the forum Muppet. You are second Muppet here, the other one is called Kermit. :-D. It's only a matter of time now, soon you will be asking which tyres are best for the GS. You know you want one.
in reply to: Abandoned weatherboard buildings -Post them here- #5260it's in Piriaka, bell boy.
in reply to: Let your Helmet call 911 #9982I thought it sounded a bit fishy :-). I kept getting the World Trade Center reception.
in reply to: Let your Helmet call 911 #9980Sounds quite clever, did they say if it could be retro fitted to all types of helmets? Unfortunately you can get yourself quite mangled up without banging up your helmet, so I suppose they would have thought of allowing the rider to manually set off the alarm?I would be interested in a device like that, if it is small enough and not likely to implant itself in my head on impact.
Just think if it did that, you would be able to call 911 just by banging your head on a wall. 👿
I'd be calling 911 way to often them, in my job I do this daily.
