in reply to: 2009 BMW F800GS – First Ride #11190
With a perennial best-seller in the R1200GS and GS Adventure, the German propeller gang has been seeking to bring that same mentality to a whole new segment of riders, those with weaker muscles and smaller bank accounts.
Not a bike for you then, Dean?
in reply to: Which GPS? #11007+1 on the new avatar. Was that photo taken when you were on the 2008 Moon Safari? How much longer on the 450? Must be pretty close!
It's a great photo, you hardly notice the road it's on.
in reply to: 42nd Traverse #11090Bravery in numbers. I would not have attempted this on my own. Probably not even a good idea on a mountain bike.
in reply to: Membership #11157Is there any way in which I can find out my membership number...or get me badge??Dave 😕
Assuming you have gone through the regular membership application process via the website and have paid online, or with a cheque, you should receive your number and badge within a few weeks. The membership cards are made up in batch lots, and they get send back and forth a couple of times. Unfortunately this process takes a little bit of time. If it has been several weeks and you've had no response, you should contact John Wuts at membership@bmwor.org.nz Hope this helps.
Not sure if the one at Port Waikato is open yet, as he mentioned it would be around November.By the way Alex, what maps do you use to put on the web site ?
The map on this page is from the Nikau Cafe'. Why do you ask?
That looks like a good one!Do you remember that the guy who runs Cafe Kaos in Tuakau also took over the cafe at Port Waikato? We must try that sometime too.
Yes we must do that. Thanks for reminding me.
in reply to: New 2009 K 1300 s, r and Gt #11114hahaI got the latest model BMW. Oh no you don't cause they just increased the motor size by 100cc. Marketing to suckers who must have the latest. priceless
Ya but you get the standard indicators.
in reply to: Helmet suggestions? #11033Dean should know, he keeps up to date with this sort of stuff.
in reply to: The Bubba Scrub – An inspiring Jumping Style #11106I look forward to a range of 40+ year olds doing the “bubba scrub”, I'm sure A&E will be impressed!!
We can dream 😀
in reply to: 42nd Traverse #11087nice one boys... and all done without a "site specific safety plan"... thats what i call living!!!
We had a first aid kit, and Willy at the Pub knew where we went. What could have gone wrong with a back up like that? 😀
in reply to: 42nd Traverse #11086I found this link with a bit more informationn on the other tracks in the area. In hindsight we should have checked in at National Park and other surrounding information centres for more info on rides in the area.http://www.the-park.co.nz/trails/Cheers
Good find Des.
in reply to: The Bubba Scrub – An inspiring Jumping Style #11101Experience have got theirs displayed on a platform outside the shop. It does look the part.I'll have to wait for a hardly used secondhand one. Every now and then they have these amazing low km bikes. I wish I had more money.I wonder if they are going to do a G650X Adventure, a bit like the Dakar bikes, with a fairing and top level suspension. I really liked the look of the KTM Lc4 Adventure, but that's out of production now. Maybe the 690 will replace it.
in reply to: The Bubba Scrub – An inspiring Jumping Style #11098Pretty amazing. I have already managed the first bit, washing out the front. Now I need to work on getting the bike airborne. I just wonder if this will hurt even more when I hit the ground afterwards. Thanks for posting.
in reply to: Another member #11096Good point. I'll get to it as soon as I've finished checking the valves on Gerda's 650.
in reply to: Oct. 5 Lunch Ride to the Orua Bird Gardens #10608A valiant effort then. We had to endure a ride in the rain for most of the way.
