And here is a photo taken of the house I live in now from the late 1940's. Looked abandoned then. Jim
I can't believe that this is the same house you are living in now. You have doen a fantastic job doing it up.

in reply to: Abandoned weatherboard buildings -Post them here- #5154Alex, Jim and all, Here are a few from last fall. Enjoy. Jim
Thanks for posting the photos, I love the autumn colours. We'd have to start a new thread for them, though. Some areas here do get the same colours, but mainly it does stay green. It's easier on the eyes than snow :-).
in reply to: Abandoned weatherboard buildings -Post them here- #5147I will snap some of the buildings in Maine and New England this summer. Some are REAL OLD. Like my house. But first I need to get rid of more of the white sh_t that fell on us this past Friday. As my wife likes to say, it makes me ugly to live with!!! The white sh_t that is.
Looks like you really need some sun and warmth. I find the Auckland winters severe enough, I don't think I would be able to survive a full length proper winter. I'd love to see New England though, especially in Autumn.
in reply to: Abandoned weatherboard buildings -Post them here- #5145I think we're the home of the original version :-). Advrider has got one called old structures.
in reply to: The Great Southern Adventure. #7211Â Thank you for taking the time to post this, a very enjoyable read. The easiest way to include photos is if you upload them to photobucket.com, it's free. Then all you need to do is click on the image location and paste it into your post here. You can upload several images at once, of course it helps to have broadband. If you don't have broadband make sure they are less than 100kb in size or it will take too long to do.Cheers,Alex
Thanks for the report Malcolm. I only have one picture which I will post later. We too were amazed about the Lahar, as the topic also came up when the train stopped next to the lodge. I am not surprised the train got a bit nervous, considering what happened last time. Luckily we were at the nine o'clock location(Pokaka) rather than 6 0'clock (Tangiwai). We enjoyed the Rag Rally and had a good time. The rain spoiled the views a bit, but not the fun. Taylor's Lodge is an all weather location, so if you haven't been to a Rag Rally make an effort next year.
in reply to: The Great Southern Adventure. #7209Thanks for the report. Very well written, love your sense of humor. Too bad you didn't have enough time to take pictures :-).
