in reply to: Taupo Track Day 20th April 2007 #7527It says controlled testing, would they let me test my bike as well?
in reply to: Taupo Track Day 20th April 2007 #7525Is that a track day at Pukekohe?
in reply to: Are cycle spedo’s legal? #7644I got the new warrant without problems, didn't expect any either. He never mentioned the brake lines. I asked him about the bike computer and he couldn't see any problem with it and would have passed it. Then I queried him about the back-lighting and he got a bit unsure and mentioned you should write to the LTSA. Sounds to me like it's a grey area and you will probably be alright. Cheers,Alex

in reply to: Auckland ride to Mangawai #7614Anything but straight Alex !!!!! 🙄
Should we approach it form the south via Waihi?
in reply to: Rusty Nuts Southern Cross Rally #7658Excellent report Dick. I would love to do a Southern Cross over the period of three weeks or so. This condensed version doesn't appeal to me. I do admire your staying power, it is quite an achievement.
in reply to: Are cycle spedo’s legal? #7641I've got to get a warrant tomorrow, if I don't forget I'll ask them. I can't see why they wouldn't be, those things tend to be more accurate than the stock system.
in reply to: Auckland ride to Mangawai #7610Thanks Jim, I am always open to suggestions. As long as your roads aren't all dead straight and meet at right angles :-).
in reply to: Chain and sprockets for F650GS #7376I ended up getting the standard chain and sprocket set X-ring DID 520 for $234 including fitting.
in reply to: Gravel riding…. #7626I have just returned from a fantastic 4000km trip in 10 days to attend the SA Annual BMW Gathering - covering tar, gravel, rocks! etc and the most fun and interesting part was the gravel and off road riding as you get to see the most beautiful areas plus of course the challenge! However, the downside of the gravel is that it chews your tyres! Â
Sounds like you've had a great trip. Would you mind sharing some pictures with us?
in reply to: Auckland ride to Mangawai #7605I thought you guys were heading straight back to Auckland, otherwise we would have waited. 3 F800s on a ride is pretty good, but I've been on one with over 20 F800 :-). How's that for one-upmanship? The next ride is to Paunaui. I have no idea where the lunch venue is. Hope to see you guys there.
in reply to: Gravel riding…. #7618I will throw in a gravel ride every now and then, depending on the interest. These rides will be additional to the normal lunch or club rides. However, you will still be riding your own bike :-). If you are wobbling, then you are probably going to slowly. You could try softening your suspension settings and letting a bit of air out of the tyres. Ride standing up this will lower the centre of gravity. It took me ages to get used to the fact that the bike will move and squirm under you, but they usually don't just fall over. riding through less developed areas has a charm on its own.
