I have used “Holt's Gasket Goo Sealant Putty” but am doubtful of its' suitability as it appears to be rather 'thick'. I can imagine it might not have allowed the mating surfaces to seat completely all round – and thus be the cause of minute oil seepage. I note Clymer recommends “..a thin even coat of Three Bond 1216 gasket sealer”. It is difficult to apply a “thin even coat” of the Holt's stuff I used. Any helpful comments?

I have not brought any for a long time, I think it is still available. Is there anyone that can confirm it's availability? Any whoo the silicon base sealers are fine like three bond, just brush it on with a small artist brush for lighter coat. Mind any loose bristles. Clean up in petrol 8) 🙂
Cork, rubber, synthetic, paper gasket? Heat range? pump type? tyre pressures ???Possibly a few more clues as to what you are doing could help with recomendations ;D

Loctite Master Gasket is good sh-t even used it on headgaskets it works. It will be available at any good outlet Blackwoods, Bay Engineers, SKF or most bearing suppliers.boGSer
