I could be wrong, and it wouldn’t be the first time, but my understanding is that the older GS’s had “conventional� left thumb switch gear.However, the PD GS’s had “BMW� switch gear, and I think Basic’s like Alex’s are the exception that proves the rule.Certainly, my 1991 80 GS has the same left thumb indicators and switchgear as the trademe bike.I hope that helps
