There seem very few advanced training courses available. I thought the first step in perhaps organising a training day was to find out who was interested, and in what. So click away, everyone gets two votes.

I've booked to take an advanced course next Monday – with 'Riderskills'.  Expensive in dollar terms, but hopefully I will gain skills, knowledge, experience that can't be measured in dollars & cents.  🙄

I'd be interested to know how you get on – The last one I did was in the UK where the local police run courses alongside a training company, once you get over the Police in your rear view mirror, they've got some real world advice that has been priceless.

It was well worth the money!  Excellent qualified instructor on a 1 to 1 basis.  After initial briefing & basic test, covered over 200km in both suburban & open country with radio contact (provided).  Stopped occasionally for discussion, coffee & evaluation.  Course was based on UK Police Riders Manual and was concentrated on safety rather than speed.  Taught me heaps about Observation, Positioning, Speed, Cornering, Rear Observation ("Life Savers") & Acceleration.  Yesterday it rained a lot so got some valuable experience in (very) wet conditions.  Although I have been riding for years, I finished the course feeling much more confident, as well as being a much 'smoother', safer rider.  It's impossible to remove all road hazards (I guess they are part of the excitement of riding), but at least this course teaches how to identify many hazards in time to do something about them.  Highly recommended.  See

Thanks – I'll certainly look them up.
