Hello, My partner and mysellf are planning a trip to Australia in May/June 2009 and would like to hear from any one who has travelled on or near our intended route and can tell us what to expect, places of interest, etc. We intend to commence our journey in Adelaide, make our way up to Katharine, left over to the top to WA, down the coast inland to Kalgoorlie, then catch the train (with bike) to Adelaide and back home. We will be freighting our bike over to Adelaide, a BMW GSA1200. I need a contact based in Adelaide who would be prepared to receive our bike, unpack and assemble then do the reverse process once we return. I'd like a heads up on who can help and who to avoid - ideally a motor cycle shop, any ideas, names etc? Something else we need to know is average speeds on the various roads, be it, shingle, dirt or genuine 4x4. We don't want to be tied to sealed roads and we have our eyes on the old Ghan Highway in SA and Gibbs highway ? in WA. Maybe you can suggest a few other roads that would be interesting? We intend to camp out a bit too, so I would be grateful for any good camping spots. I would appreciate any contacts or advice as we prepare our trip. If you wish to contact me directly via email try: warren.taylor@primebc.co.nzThanking you in adavnce.Warren & Lex
