Nobody bothered to answer, what was a reasonable question at the start of this tread

Radar Detectors .... GREAT, I have a Passport Escort 8500 and I won't leave home without it !!

I paid $1500 a few years ago ... now they are around $600 (bugger) but I assure you I HAVE saved more $$ than that

I use velcro in the map section of my tank bag and place it in there ... the Escort is small and has a socket to plug in a lead to a buzzer in my helmet .. don't listen to anyone who says it doesn't work IT DOES ... you can still get caught but it does offer some protection

If you want one ... get one ... whoi cares what other say
